The IGT S-2000 reel slot machine is the latest reel slot model developed by IGT for casino play in the 21^st century. The model comes in either three, four, or five reels. Sometimes, the fourth reel, being the bonus reel, affects the other three reels when a symbol land on the payline. The S-2000 machine has more ram memory than its predecessor, the S-Plus machine of the last decade, and this means that the key chip now programs the percentages of payback instead of individual reel chips that are used in the S-Plus machines. Also, the key chip is used to make most the S-2000 slot machines, multi-denominational, meaning, that the slot player can select one of several choices of the monetary denomination of each play, just by hitting the multi-denominational button that changes the monetary bet of each play. The slot player, for instance, puts in a $20 bill and let’s says that the current monetary choice is set at $0.25 pet per coin, which gives the slot player 80 credits. Well, say the slot player wants to make each credit worth $0.50 per credit; well, he hits the multi-denominational button and consequently, he changes his bet to $0.50 per credit and the bet is reflected in the LED screen-readout on the right side which would read 40 credits. There is another LED readout that always displays the exact value in dollars and cents how much the slot player has of a remaining balance and also, how much the slot player has won. The reason for increasing the bet per credit is because the percentage of payback increases as the denomination increases. The key chip allows for the slot technician to select up to thirteen denominations and chooses the appropriate payback percentage, depending upon the denomination. Another feature of the S-2000 slot machine is that, when the slot player cashes out, the computer board of the machine knows the value of the coin being played, no mater what denomination is already selected. If the hopper is set at $0.25, then 80 quarters will be dispensed, based on $20 no mater what denomination the bet is set at, even if the bet is $1.00 bet per credit. Now, if the owner does not want to deal with coins, say quarters, for instance, but just wants to play with dollar bills, then, when the player selects the cash out button, the LED display will show the player what his winnings are at the time of cashing out, and the player can just turn the re-set key on the side of the machine to re-set the machine, and can start over playing again, without having to wait for the coins to be dispensed. Another way to handle the cash out without coins dispensing out of the hopper is to have a ticket printer, for the player can receive a paper ticket of what was cashed out at that particular time. Remember, the key chip sets the cash out value, the denominational settings, as well as, the percentage of payback for each denomination. With more memory, comes the fact, that, as the US Treasury Department keeps changing the design of the various dollar bill denominations, the S-2000 slot machine will be able to be programmed to adapt to the currency changes with the updated software over time. So, IGT developed newer games to be put into the S-2000 slot machines, and, if a player still wanted an older game that was in a S-Plus machine, say a Double Diamond, to be placed in the newer S-2000 machine, it could readily be done.
